Steampunk Fairy-Challenge #63@TSC

Hello friends...this Monday the challenge at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner is #63 Pink and Girly.
Delicious Doodles is one of our sponsors this week and I've chosen to work with this beautiful Steampunk Fairy. I just went to the sponsors site to link up the addy here and I just saw this beautiful Steampunk Mermaid! That is serious deliciousness!  I'll be needing that digi.
I colored over the dress with two different sets of pinks because the first pinks I used looked a lot more red then I had hoped for.
The paper is from a Prima pack called Firefly. I just discovered it and now understand that it's already discontinued.
I embossed the paper with a fun watch face Sizzix embossing folder.
I altered the color of the charm, gear, and corner chipboard piece with Adirondock   silver alcohol ink.
The sentiment, With wings all is possible is from a Kraftin Kimmie Fairy sentiments

My 91 year old mother broke her hip yesterday and had surgery today. We were concerned about her having the surgery but we are all so thankful she is doing well. I just wish I could take her pain and discomfort away.
We had a couple of the kids stay over that live an hour away, so they could visit my mom yesterday and today too. It was really nice to get together. My husband did the grocery shopping.made us brunch and barbequed tonight. What a sweetie helping me to de-stress.

Hope your Monday is awesome! Looking forward to see what everyone creates this week.

Mermaid-A Day for Daisies-Challenge #62@TSC

Hello, and thanks for visiting today!
I'm sharing the card I made for the new challenge at Tammy's Scrapin Corner.
Challenge #62 Anything goes with ribbon and lace.
Our sponsors are A Day For Daisies and SK Digis.
I've chosen this beautiful digi from A Day For Daisies. This image is called Mermaid.
Papers are from My Mind's eye.(2006-2008)
I used spica pen on the tail and fin and then covered it with stickles.
I pulled out my chalks and dusted them off so I could color up the clock die cut.
I've added silver mesh ribbon over the clock, and used this fun netted tassel lace.
The tiny dragonfly is a laser cut chipboard from Make It Crafty They are so intricate and wonderfully made.
I had made these ocean borders in my scrapbooking days and never used them until now. I cut a piece off of one, altered it a bit and added it to the bottom left side of the card. I remember being so thrilled that I had found those tiny, real sand dollars to use on them.
I found this wonderful acetate overlay in my stash along with the MME papers and thought it was perfect to add over top of the image I colored.
Yeah, that glare was really fun to photograph.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this week's challenge.

I was able to celebrate Mother's Day this weekend with my children and grandchildren and it was such a wonderful time. Lots of memories were made again.
Saturday afternoon my daughter,Stevie and I took a mixed media class and made a Steampunk inspired canvas.
Mine didn't get finished...which is kind of  normal because I rarely get any of my projects finished in class. Just too much of a perfectionist.
So here's a picture of Stevie's canvas. I loved how it turned out and I'm so happy we were able to get together and create something fun.

After the 4 hour class we rushed home to have a barbecue with the rest of the kids. We celebrated Tanner's 2nd birthday and just had a great time together.
Here's a picture of Hailey, and Morgan, two of my granddaughters playing dress up with some of the costumes I have in the tickle trunk.

I can finally share some exciting news with you. I'm going to be a grandma again for the sixth time in about 7 months!!
See you again soon.

Hannah Lynn-Kathleen and Summer-Challenge #61@TSC Happy Mother's Day

Hello friend! I'm writing this post late Sunday night to automatically post in the wee hours of Monday morning...and I just have to say...what a glorious day to have been on the bike!
We woke up late this morning because the alarm clock didn't go off...that gave me less then an hour to get ready for church. I don't like being late so I would rather go with less makeup and my hair half done. We went on the bike so it's not like my hair was going to look like I spent time on it after I took my helmet off.
After church we went for brunch with some of my husbands extended family. My husband's wonderful Dad, and step Mom, dear Aunty Birtha, and Uncle Johnny. We all stand outside after church and spend 5-10 minutes just trying to decide where to eat. Then we go to one of our 4 usual restaurants.
When brunch was over Barry and I stopped in at a clothing store so he could get some new shorts.
This was part of our conversation today...
Barry: Baby why don't you get some new summer dresses or shoes while we're here?
Me: No. I'd rather spend money on art supplies.
You can relate right?!
I didn't want to...but after some coaxing I walked out of there with 3 new summer dresses.
I was very spoiled this week. I had just spent the day yesterday with my friend, Jan celebrating National Scrapbooking Day by supporting the industry that we love! You know what that means...
I now have to buy new organizational iris carts and baskets.
I like to be organized so I don't buy duplicates or tripples of things I already have. That's a little upsetting when it happens. I'm getting to the point where I sometimes don't remember what I have and that signals red lights for me that say, *Stop hoarding supplies and start using up what you have* but then that thought gets replaced with *Shiny*
I also want to share that I'm quite thrilled that I only need to get 31 more Copics to complete my collection.(My Precious) Yes,dreams do come true! (:
That alone is worth celebrating. As careful as I have tried to be when buying Copics,I still managed to buy two duplicate colors. You can relate right?!
The rest of the afternoon today was spent in the warm sunshine on the Harley. Talk about major vitamin D being injected into my bloodstream. I have missed you, healing, warm sunshine and delicious wind caressing my skin!!
It has been a long winter...but back to the card...
Because I have really, every color I could possibly need, I was able to color and make this Hanna Lynn mermaid card.
This week's theme at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner is Mother's Day.
As soon as I found out about the challenge I knew I had to make a card using this Hannah Lynn digi called Kathleen and Summer.
I love Hannah Lynn images, and this is one of my favorites. I fell in love with this image when I first saw it here on Rosie's blog. Isn't that an amazing card?
I saw that over a year ago when I first started coloring and blogging.
That made me think about all the blogs I've found and followed that have inspired my coloring and card making over the past year.
I wanted to share with you some of the blogs I follow that have inspired me. These are the artists who's work I admire, study and learn from. From first to last as I discovered them...
There's a few more I can't think of right now...
I laugh at myself when I think back to a year ago, and remember saying to myself..."There is no way I'm adding those elaborate flowers and those hand colored seam binding bows to my cards! No way!"
I've learned to never say never...
I realize that there are so many ways to color and to design cards and I'm interested in exploring as many ideas as I can.
Thanks to all the Copic artists who share their color combination recipes, supply lists, and instructional videos with all of us,who are looking to learn.

Thanks for the visit...I'm looking forward to seeing your Mother's Day creations this week at TSC. Hugs!

Stella Red Hat Hattitude-Challenge 60@TSC

Hello friends! It's Monday again, and April is almost over. Where did it go? Is it Spring yet in your corner of the world?
The snow here has finally melted out of the backyard this past weekend but now we're having rain.
Next weekend is supposed to be good and hot so I'm really looking forward to that. We might actually get out on the Harley for a scoot.

There's a new challenge this week at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
Challenge #60 is All About Layers.
Our sponsors this week are Bugaboo stamps, and SK Digis.
I've chosen a Bugaboo digi called Stella Red Hat Hattitude.
Isn't that Red Hat charm perfect for this card? I think I have about 50 of those charms. I bought them at the time to add to the dough art Red Hat ladies I was going to make.Yeah, I still have all 49 left!
I also made a beaded "hat" pin for this card.
I'm  Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has created with layers this week.

I really wanted to sew on this card, so as soon as I woke up this morning I pulled out my 8 year old  but never used more than a couple of times, shiny like new, blue sewing machine.(yes it's a baby blue mini ultra Kenmore) Only to find that I no longer had the cord with the peddle. I guess that got left behind in the last move.(along with my complete box of Prisma pencil crayons) While searching for the peddle for an hour...before my first coffee, I did find my very large vitamin/pill container that I had been trying to locate for the last three months. It's really huge and I just don't even know how I could misplace something that big.
So now I'm on a hunt for the missing sewing machine parts from the manufacturer.
Hopefully I can get what I need, as well as the instruction manual. I'm not a sewer. I just bought the machine for scrapbooking.
So no sewing on my cards anytime soon.

Hey, did you notice I have an Etsy shop now?
Well I had it for a while but didn't really have anything in it to sell.
I had always intended to make and sell my cards on Etsy, but just never got around to listing
 any of them until now.
I found someone on Etsy who made this wonderful banner for my shop as well as for my blog so I decided it was finally time.  I hope it goes well.
I put a link to my shop on the side bar.

Have a fabulous week...and may you find everything you're searching for!

You're A Star-Challenge #59@TSC

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a card I made for a challenge at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner
This weeks challenge is #59 Anything goes/Bling it up
Our sponsor this week is Stamp Fairy
I've used the digi called Mimi Stars 4
I'm looking forward to seeing what you create for this challenge.
It's a bling thing so add as much or as little as you like. When it comes to "shiny" more is always better! I had to stop myself from adding more bling to this card because I can get so carried away with sparkly things.  Glitter never photographs well but it is so shiny and sparkly in real life! I used purple and teal sticky glitter paper, and gold foil papers that I had been hoarding for at least 12 years. The glitter papers have a very glossy coating on the front and the  back peel away paper has Kodak written on it. All the things I've collected for scrapbooking over the years are finally getting used. Before making cards as much as I do now, I used to buy loads of scrapbooking paraphernalia scrapbook. Now every time I use something from my stash I smile and think, Ha! I knew I bought that for a reason!

I got to babysit Morgan, and Tanner, two of my grandkids again this weekend. I enjoyed having them so much that when they left Sunday night I felt all weepy. They only live an hour away and we get to see them quite often. We looked after them for two weeks, just three weeks ago, and they'll be here again next Saturday, but just for a quick visit. I guess it just kind of hit me how precious this time with them is. I try to be present with them every minute and create fun filled memories. This weekend we created more Art,and I introduced them to the poetry of one of my favorite authors, Shel Silverstein. We read from the book Where the sidewalk ends. They loved it and so did I! Especially Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle me too...Spending so much time together has really bonded us and every visit is so precious to me.
I am so thankful to be so blessed!

Hope you have an amazing week...thanks for the visit!

I also wanted to share the present the kids gave me this weekend. This beautiful engraved pedant and chain that I will always cherish.
My daughter, Nerissa inked up and stamped Morgan and Tanner's hands and emailed them to a jeweler who added them to this pendant. "I love you to the moon and back" is something we tell each other all the time.
Here are their little hand prints preserved forever...It's no wonder I was so weepy right?!

Always Be A Unicorn-Challenge #57@TSC

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing the card I made for challenge #57 at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
This weeks sponsor is QKR
I've chosen a digi image called,Sitting Unicorn.

"Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn."
I had just found that saying on Pinterest and it cracked me up. As soon as I saw this digi I knew I wanted to use that saying on my card.
This week's theme is Anything goes and add 1 image, 2 die cuts, and 3 embellishments.

I spent quite a while coloring the shaded parts of the unicorn with a really interesting color combination, leaving most of the body white. Then I decided I wanted to add a touch more color using the" bubble technique." That's where you add dish soap and ink or paint to water. Blow bubbles in the mixture with a straw, and touch your paper to the bubbles you've blown.
I've never done this technique before and I probably should have tested it on a piece of scrap paper first...but I didn't...and I was a little shocked surprised with how much color got transferred to the image. There was no going back from the big splotch of green in the middle of my unicorn so I just kept adding more color. I liked the finished look but all that beautiful shading I had just created disappeared.
Since I still had all this bubble/ink solution mixed up I decided to bubble up a test sheet of paper after all. Of course that turned out exactly how I thought it would! I used part of that paper behind the rainbow glitter paper, and on the inside of the card.
The die cut swirl was inked up with metallic pigment inks. I stamped a star stream over a part of the swirl and embossed it with glitter embossing powder.
Parts of the unicorn were painted with Frost smooch glitz, and the image has amazing sparkle to it in real life. It just didn't photograph well at all. The whole card is one big sparkle.

Thanks for the blog visit, and for all the wonderful comments you leave for me to read.
Looking forward to seeing your take on this week's challenge.

Happy Bee Day- Challenge #56@TSC

Hello friends! Hope your Monday is off to a good start. I woke up this morning a little shocked when I realized I forgot to post my card for today. So here it is a few hours late. I guess I've gotten a little distracted with taking care of Tanner and Morgan. I get three more days with them. I'm surprised how fast those two weeks went by.

This week's challenge at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner is #56 Anything Goes include April Fool, or funny birthday card.
Sponsors this week are Sk Digi's, and Deasy Designs.
I've chosen a SK Digi called Queen Bee.
Happy Bee Day...I thought that was pretty funny.
The "Happy" stamp is from an old SU set.
The papers are from a Glitz pack called Cashmere Dame.
Check out the challenge and play along with us this week.

Here are a couple of pictures of Morgan and Tanner. Morgan has been busy crafting all week and this is one of her Art projects. She was using glitter glue on her canvas, and while I stepped away for a minute she popped opened a tube of seed beads, and they all spilled out onto her canvas. Thankfully they all landed on wet glue and there weren't hundreds of beads rolling around on the floor. There were a few tears over that mishap, so I explained to Morgan that there is no crying in Art, and that it's always ALL good! We smiled and agreed that it looked even better now.
Too fun!
