Steampunk Pirate Hat

Hey friends!
It's been a while since I've blogged but I made this Steampunk Pirate hat that I wanted to share with you.

To make this hat I started with a plain  black top hat that I found at the local costume shop. I added a couple of Steampunk pins I found and the rest was all pretty much from my scrapbooking/crafting stash and broken jewelery I had saved just for a project like this.
About a year ago my biker friend Fred gave me a Harley button that had fallen off his jacket and I added it to the center of the tiara. I colored all the metal the same color using Tim Holtz Adirondack silver alcohol ink. I just swiped across the surface with a sponge and it worked great! Then I just added as much bling and detail as I could. There's a silver stingray charm, a black netted bat, a bottle of captured hearts with hat pins, skulls, daggers, gears, feathers and lace.
Two of my daughters, Nerissa and Ashley were happy to model the hat for pictures.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Kenny K Harley Ryder

Hello my lovlies! It's almost 11:00 P.M. on Thursday night and I'm supposed to be busy packing for a trip! I'm leaving for a week long cruise to the Western Caribbean on Saturday with my husband, my oldest daughter, Nerissa and her husband.  Nothing like leaving everything for the last minute! If only I could make myself stop coloring...haha! And in my mind I'm still thinking I can color and make up one more card for a Kraftin Kimmie challenge. Now I'm really haha-ing!
This will be the first of two cruises I'll be going on this year, and this will be cruise three of four so far with another(#5) already booked for 2013. This is what happens when you marry a Pisces...they just love to travel! Me being a Cancer, I enjoy traveling but I still really enjoy my home and the comforts it holds. I told my husband that we should just live in a motor home and that way we could have the best of both worlds! Of course once I get the sand between my toes, the sun on my face, and the tropical winds in my hair, I'm not going to want to come back! We're also meeting up with friends we met on the High Seas Rally cruise a couple of years ago. Two awesome couples that love life and love to have fun. Can't wait to see them again!
This cruise stops at Cozumel, Belize, Roatang, and the Grand Caymans. We've never been to Roatang or Belize so that will be new. And holidaying with my daughter and her husband will be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to some mother/daughter bonding time.
Oh right...you came here to look at my card, not read all about how hard done by I am that I have to go on a tropical holiday. (: Okay, so here's my latest card. I made it to enter into the Kenny K Krafty Girlz challenge going on this week which was a recipe: 1 image, 2 papers, and 3 embellishments or 3 kinds of embellishments.
I got cooking and this is what I came up with... I used two of the new Heidi Swap file folder papers called sugar chic. My three embellishments were the metal flowers,(a gift from Shelby) the turquoise rhinestones, and the silver embossed flourish I made. The image of course is a Kenny K Krash Kittenz digi called Harley Ryder.
She was a lot of fun to color. I originally colored in her stomach area so it looked like she was wearing a one piece suit but decided she need to have more skin showing so I printed, colored, and paper pieced another stomach section on top of what i had already colored. I used stickles "star dust" on her boots and then applied some crystal effects over top of that as well as on her glasses. You can't really tell from the pictures but I used a Spica "clear" pen on the blonde highlights of her hair and as a highlighter eyeshadow.  The sentiment was from a SU set and I used a Whimsy ticket die cut to cut it out. I used a brick wall embossing folder and just embossed half of the round die cut I had cut out. Inked the wall up with more TH distress inks and used my Bev Rochester cloud template to make the cloudy sky. I inked the edges of the papers with TH walnut stain distress ink.
I used a card sketch from The Sweet Shop. I have to say I'm really enjoying using the sketches to construct my cards. Who knew?!
I have a lot of Harley girlfriends and thought this would be a perfect birthday card for one of them.
Well my husband will be phoning me right away to check up on me see how my packing is coming along so I should go try a few of my summer clothes on and find out what still fits me, what's getting packed, and what I have to shop for tomorrow.
...if I don't get that one last card made tomorrow then I'll be back in about 10 days or so when I get back from swimming with the stingrays!...miss you already!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Saturated Canary Rainy Day

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to share this card with you today. It's the first Saturated Canary image that I've colored up. I've managed to collect about 20 of them so far and I finally got to color one. I'm hooked! I keep reading comments from people about how much fun they are to color. I have to agree! Too fun!
This image is called Rainy Day and  it's available at Krista Smith's Etsy shop. Careful...they're addicting! I'm entering this card into my first Saturated Canary challenge!! I followed a sketch from Card Positioning Sketches.
The papers are from lilly beedesign Head over Heels.
I used a little bit of Smooch Glitz Frost on the lace of her dress and a Sharpie white paint pen on the dots on her boots and umbrella. I used Crystal effects on her rain drops and to make a puddle under her feet. I also added teeny, teeny tiny tear drop shaped rhinestone "blessings" to the image.
I got the cloud pattern from a template I downloaded from Bev Rochester here.(I used TH distess ink Iced Spruce to make the clouded sky.

There are so many fun challenges going on right now that I'd like to enter my card in! That's always so much fun for me!...and thank you to all the DT members that come out to leave a comment on my blog!! I appreciate that so much!! Your comments really make my blogging experience so enjoyable and it really makes my day!
I'm also so happy to have 32 followers! Each of you are a little treasure to me! *hugs friends*

Pitstop Penny GDT spot at Creative Craft Challenge Blog

Hi everyone! Today I get to share a card I made for a challenge going on at the Creative Craft Challenge blog. Recently I entered one of my cards into a challenge over there and it was picked as one of the top three. Along with that came the opportunity to be a guest on the design team! That is really quite an honor to me and I jumped at the chance! I was given a sketch to follow and this wonderful digi from Kenny K downloads. Pitstop Penny! I was pretty excited about getting this digi as I didn't have it yet and one of my goals for this year is to color up all Kenny's krash kittenz as well as the Steampunk Burlesque. Combined there are 21 of those images and this is the third Kenny K image I've done.  What that means is that you're sure to see a lot more cards with Kenny K images from me. I really love how this one turned out!
Be sure to stop in at the Creative Craft Challenge blog to check out what the rest of the design team came up with...and play along in this weeks challenge for a chance to win a Kenny K digi!

Cupcake Mouse from Shelby

Here he is! Cupcake mouse! I won him as blog candy from Shelby, at Color of happy.(Sweeeet!) If you haven't visited Shelby's blog you might want to check her out. She's a great inspiration for the Copic coloring artist. So often I'll see a really kewl pin on Pinterest and when I go to check it out it leads me back to Shelby's blog. Obviously I'm not the only one who loves her work! And she's so generous!! This gal is constantly giving away great candy as in stamps, stamps, and more stamps! Weekly! She obviously doesn't have the hoarding gene like I do because I don't think I could part with even one of my stamps! I was so delighted to have been one of the winners a few weeks ago and to receive this adorable rubber stamp from Whipper Snapper . The day he showed up in the mail he got some inky love. Not right then and there, but later that night as I was on my way to bed...
I saw him laying on the counter and I could hear him calling out to me to be colored! Funny thing is I know I'm the only one who could hear those little mouse whispers. I picked him up, inked him up and we spent the next couple of hours getting creative. It was so fun to see him come to life. He's definitely the cutest critter I've ever colored.
Thanks again Shelby for bringing Cupcake Mouse into my orbit :) He will be very well loved here!

Tickled Pink New Release Preview Day 4...Heidi

Hi everyone! Today is the final day of previews for the new School Pinkettes being released by Tickled Pink Stamps. Tomorrow all four of the new images will be available in the store.
The Pinkette in the limelight today is School Pinkette Heidi. Such a fun image, she looks like she's ready and eager to get back to class! Yeah, just like how I used to be the first day of school, haha. I remember that I couldn't wait for school to start so I could wear my new school clothes. That's what I was eager about.
I love BoBunny papers and had just stockpiled some 6x6 pads.  The Forever Fall collection was one of them but I didn't think I would actually be able to play with any of those vividly colored papers till closer to Fall...until the School Pinkettes came along. Yeah!! Another awesome image to paper match! There's something so delightfully satisfying about that.
I used a white sharpie poster paint pen to write on the miniature wooden chalkboard. The Fall leaves were in my stash and I just added micro beads with some crystal effects to them. The books at the bottom of the card is a sticker from one of my many binders of stickers that I've hoarded and collected over the years... but never used. Just the right embellishment for this card. I'm gonna bring stickers back! Haha!
I had so much fun making these projects to feature the new Pinkette images! Hope you found some inspiration here and don't forget to check out the Tickled Pink stamp blog for more inspiration from the rest of the fabulous design team.

Tickled Pink Preview Day 2 Kira

Hi again! Here we are on day 2 of the Tickled Pink Stamps preview of the new School Pinkettes.  All four of the new Pinkettes being released will be available 05/04/12.  Today we're introducing Kira to the world. She reminds me so much of my granddaughter Morgan. It must be that sweet little face, and bangs(fringe) that always need a trim!
As soon as I got this digi I knew I wanted Kira to have fun spunky hair, so I gave her that fun two toned look. I paper pieced her tiny little socks with coordinating paper from the 6x6 Kaisercraft Utopia collection paper pad that I used to make this card. That is some fun paper! Some of it being spot varnished, foiled, and flocked.
I had made the miniature pencils out of wooden skewers a few years ago to use in my dough art creations of "teacher ornaments" and still had a few pencils in my supplies.  Happy day, I finally got to use my Tim Holtz tiny attacher stapler to staple the stamped WRMM file tab label to the card.(I won that stamp in a blog hop) I couldn't believe I had the perfect sentiment for this card, "back to class" in my stash of stamps! It was from the magnetic MM set called, "Express it". And it was the perfect size! I love it when my years of hoarding craft and scrapbook supplies pays off and I'm able to create the best card I can imagine. What a great way to accept the beginning of a new school year...with a fun card!  I wish I had thought of that when my children were small.  I'm sure they would have loved a card to mark the occasion. Maybe with a gift card or a few bucks inside to spend on a slushie after school.  I'm so blessed to have a second opportunity to do that with my grandchildren!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and be sure to hop on over to the Tickled Pink blog to see what the other Pinkette design team members have created with this fabulous image.

DONT FORGET...... Leave a comment on each post for your chance to WIN this image via digital download ONLY.

Tickled Pink Preview Day 1 Chloe

Hi everyone! Hope your day is sparkling!
First of all I just wanted to say how thrilled, and honored I am to have been selected to be on the Pinkette Design Team!  I'm absolutely stoked about being a part of such a great group of ladies, and so glad to be able to share the newest Pinkettes with you.

Today is our first day of previews. There are four new School Pinkettes being released!  Today belongs to this sweet Pinkette, Chloe. All of the new release images will be available at Tickled Pink Stamps on 05/04/2012.

I decided to do something a little different than a card so I made this Post-it-note holder. I bought one at my local farmer's market last Fall from someone selling SU cards to use as a template. I finally got around to figuring out how to make them. So easy! I couldn't believe it! I'm going to have to make up a few more and have them ready to give away as little "just because" gifts! My two oldest granddaughters will love them to draw little pictures in! My daughters might enjoy one in the kitchen to use as a quick grocery list. My bff would appreciate one to have in her scraproom to use as a reminder pad. She can make a list of the bags and drawers she's stashed her inks, re-inkers and other newly purchased goodies in! :p

To see more of Chloe visit the Tickled Pink blog and check out what the other Pinkette designers have been up to.
DON'T FORGET...... Leave a comment on each post for your chance to WIN this image via digital download ONLY.
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to come back tomorrow to see what I've made with another of the new Pinkettes.

Fleur Anya

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! Is it Spring yet? I can't tell because we just got another 6 inches of snow yesterday. A few days ago I saw and heard a few Harley's on the road though, so I'm a little confused.

I just wanted to post this cute little card using a Greeting Farm stamp called Fleur Anya. A few weeks ago my bff, Jan came over with her collection of cling stamps, and I stayed up through the night stamping up about 30 sheets of my Copic paper with images.(Jan lasted till about 2:00 A.M and crashed) Little Fleur Anya was one of the 60 images I stamped. Funny how when I was stamping most of  Jan's images I was thinking to myself...I'm for sure buying this stamp for my collection!! And I don't know why because out of my hundreds of mounted and unmounted stamps I own I've rarely stamped the same image more than once or twice. I'm thinking that out of all my stamps more than 50% have never even been stamped once!.  I just find my style changes so much from the time I'm collecting certain stamps to when I actually start creating with them. This year I'm going to try to stamp every single stamp I own! Plus all the new ones I'm sure to buy! (insert delusional laugh here) Well they do make a great display in my craft room and are great drawer fillers :) I'll post a few pictures so you can see what I mean.

I just started taking an online Copic color classes with Suzanne J Dean over at Color Me Creative Classroom and this week she's celebrating the 2nd year of her site with a birthday party bash. Lots of games and prizes to be won. The gand prize being a Sizzix Vagabond machine. Yeah, that would be sweet!! One of the birthday events was to do a sketch challenge so this is the card I made using the sketch that was provided.
I thought little Anya was going to be too little for one of my regular 6x6 cards so I decided to put her on a standard 4A size card.(4 1/4x5 1/2) Wow was I wrong.  That little body is really an illusion because her head took up half the card.  I used papers from Teresa Collins Canvas Fabrications. At first I had colored all the flowers in Anya's hair orange and didn't know how I was going to pull in the turquoise color that was in the paper, so I stamped out another image and colored the flowers with orange and teal, cut it out and pasted it over the original stamped image. She's so sweet she just puts a smile on my face!

This is how I store my wood mounted stamps...the chest of drawers are chockablock full of SU stamp sets. All double layers.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
