Happy Birthday Austin-Kenny K Airborne

Hi everyone!
Today I'm sharing the card I made for a my daughter's boyfriend's son, Austin.
He's an awesome little boy and just turned 11.My daughter Stevie told me he loves skateboarding so I knew this digi, from Kenny K called Airborne would be perfect.
I've seen some amazing cards made with this image and found my inspiration from the following two cards.
Here's Annie's card. Her cards are all so incredible and her coloring is Super Star!
I drew the flames on the skateboard. How clever huh? I got the inspiration for those flames from Heidy's card.
That's brilliant, Heidy!
I also followed the sketch from Something Sketchy
The paper is from Bo Bunny's Surprise collection.
I'm excited to give this card to Austin.
And what 11 year old boy wouldn't get a chuckle about having cooties on their card?! I stamped this All Night Media stamp on the back of his card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Fairy Happy Birthday-Challenge #68 @ TSC

Hello friends! Happy Summer!
Today I'm sharing the card I made for the card challenge going on at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
This week's theme is Make A Step Card.
I've never made a step card of any kind before so this was certainly a challenge for me.
There are many different kinds of step cards and I thought I would start with the side step card.
I thought it was quite easy to make after my fourth try at it. Now I could probably make them in my sleep! Well probably not at all but I was surprised at how simple it really was.
Here's the link I used for my instructions. Step Card
This card is smaller and much thinner than most of the cards I make but I was unable to find instructions for a 6"  side step card.
Normally I make my card bases from Super stock. It's 130lb double thick white cardstock. It's thick and gives so much weight to my cards. I love that! It can stand up to all those embellishments I like to pile on my cards. I need to score it slightly with an exacto knife to prevent the fold lines from looking like kaka freying. So since there was a lot of folding to be done for this step card I used SU cardstock.(SU cardstock is 80lb)

One of our sponsors this week is Bugaboo Digi Stamps. I used Girl Fairy Birthday Dust. Our other sponsor is SK Digis
I enlarged the sentiment that comes with the Bugaboo digi and fussy cut the ice cream cones after I colored them with chalks and covered them with a layer of Crackle accent.
I have some Tim Holtz Rock Candy that I've never used so I tried it on the fairy wings. They looked okay but really muted the colors because of the thickness of the glaze. Yeah I should have used Crackle accent for the wings too.
The paper is from Teressa Collins. The circular birthday sentiment is from SK Digis.
Thanks for stopping by!
And thanks so much for your wonderful comments every week!!

Pony Express-Challenge #65@TSC

Hello friends, today I'm sharing the card I made for challenge #65 at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner.
This week's theme is Texture.
Our sponsor this week is QRK Designs.
I've chosen a digi called Pony Express.
The texture I added to my card is Pop dots, Metal, Baker's twine, and glitter
The paper is from a 6x6 glitter paper pack by Best Creations Ink called Cowboy Up.
As soon as I saw this image I knew I wanted to use it on a card for friend's of ours, Kevin, and Cheryl, who we met on the first High Seas Rally Cruise we went on four years ago.
We were fortunate to meet up with them and other HSR friends last Spring on a regular cruise. They are from Georgia and are very dear to our hearts.
Kevin has had a long career with the US Postal Service and finally retired this year. His friends call him Mailman. His wife Cheryl also works for the US Postal service. Her friends call her Mailbox. Too fun! They both ride their own bikes.

Have you seen the Ikea Raskog cart yet?
There was a huge thread about it on Two Peas In A Bucket. I've been a Pea for over 11 years and know that if the Peas love something that chances are I will love it too. They are great enablers!
And they were right when they said this cart is awesome for scrapbooking. It really holds a lot!
I love the color too.
Since I scrap at the dining room table but have all my supplies in my scraproom, I  and need to carry my supplies back and forth from room to room. This cart is just ideal for me.! I see another one in my future very soon. I painted the milk can that's in the picture about 16 years ago when I used to paint.
Thanks for the visit...have a wonderful first week of June.

Mermaid in a bowl-A Day For Daisies

Hello friends. I was unable to share the card I was making for challenge #64 at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner, because of unforeseen circumstances. Last week's  theme was Vintage.
I used a digi stamp from A Day For Daisies called Mermaid in a bowl.
The wonderful paper is from the UK called Pion Design.
I'm loving the Fran' tage embossing enamel and sprinkled some on the corners and over the flowers and awesome chipboard embellishments.

I was working on this card just before my Mother passed away last Monday, May 27th.
Her name was Gail, and she would have been 91 this month.
She had recently fallen and broke her hip. She was a week in the hospital until her body started to shut down. I'm thankful that she didn't suffer but passed away peacefully with family around her.
She told us she had a long, good life and that she was ready and wanting to go home to the Lord.
I'm the baby of the family and as I watched her age over the years I realized that getting old is not for the feeble. Her strength shone through her heart every day.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers...now that my mom has been called home to be with the Lord. Her pain and suffering are over...We are spiritual beings having a human experience, and she is in her element now. I am feeling her love, presence, and strength all around me, and I am comforted with that but feelings of sorrow and loss engulf me like a wave at times. I refuse to let death steal my Joy, so I choose to focus on all the special moments we had with her.
My mom had 10 children, 48 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren on the way. She would have been 91 on June 21st. She taught me how to be loving, nurturing, kind, and strong, as that's how she was. She lived a life of service and sacrifice...always thinking of her ever growing family, and others, before herself. I hope to be more like her everyday. Her last words were,"Thank you".

I would have loved to have given this vintage mermaid card to her for her 91st birthday.
Here's a picture of me and my mom, and my three daughters at her 90th Birthday party last year.
