Happy Monday everyone! Hope your day is Awesome!
We had the kids and grandchildren(13 of us) over for family dinner last night and had a great time together celebrating my husbands birthday, and the Jewish holiday,Purim.
We are not a Jewish family but over the past year I've developed a huge interest in Israel and the Jewish culture. I have really enjoyed learning about the Holy holidays that are celebrated and usually share my new found knowledge with my husband and kids. I didn't make the traditional triangular shaped cookies called, hamentaschen. but I did find a recipe for them and promised the kids I would make them for when we celebrate Purim again next year. I think as well next year I'll also encourage everyone to dress up in costumes as that is also a huge part of the celebration. I love this holiday!
We never need an excuse to get together and when we do it's always a celebration. At times we are off the chart a bit dysfunctional but always full of love.
On the menu was The Pioneer Woman Best Ever Lasagna. What makes this lasagna so good is the "hot" Italian sausage meat added to the ground beef. I've made this recipe for my family twice now and it has become our all time favorite. Along with that we had garlic bread that wasn't burnt,(that in itself is a celebration in this house.) Wow, you burn the bread 6 out of 10 times and you are known for ALWAYS burning the garlic bread! We also had ceasar salad with real bacon not processed bacon bits. That doesn't happen very often but hey it was a holiday! And for dessert we had an assortment of baked goodies that my girlfriend Tammy made for me. The "birthday cake" were these fun cupcakes that look like hamburgers, and cherry topped milkshakes. I had them specially made for my husband's 50th birthday. His niece took a couple of cake decorating classes at Michael's and now does "cakes" for friends and families.
We thought she did a pretty amazing job with these! And they were so yummy!
I can get easily sidetracked with talking about food but I'm actually here to share the card I made for the new challenge #51 at Tammy's Scrapin Corner. I just joined the team last week and I'm really enjoying getting to know everyone.
This week's challenge#51 is Paper Piecing.
Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Digi Stamps
I love the bugaboo images and sentiments! That kind of humor just cracks me up!! It will even make you smile on a Monday!!!
I used Bo Bunny papers from the Zoology collection. Using the Cheetah print I paper pieced Stella's hair, shoes and the cat. I actually have a pair of shoes with almost that same pattern. Haha!
I also paper pieced Stella's glasses, arm, fingers, and the cat's nose.
Paper piecing was a fun technique to use on this card. I also used buttons I salvaged from an old denim outfit, and I added a touch of bling with some colorful sparkly dots, and some furry ribbon. I've had this Bugaboo image for quite a while and it was fun to finally use it! I hope you will play along this week and link up your creations to the challenge. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
